My Background and Approach to Teaching

I've been teaching guitar privately since 2018, at a wide range of levels, and have been delighted to see my students progressing – some take on grades, while others work through pieces they're interested in and develop their skills along the way. I mostly specialise in classical guitar, but I've also taught folk and singer-songwriter guitar styles, and am always eager to expand my musical horizons.

As well as all the technical stuff and music theory that you might expect, I offer lessons with a focus on self-direction – my goal is to help players set and achieve their own goals, develop their own understanding of how to interpret and relate to the music they are playing, and decide on a programme of study that will enable them to really enjoy what they are doing. I welcome anyone at any level of ability.
